Eli and Peyton Manning

Whoever started the conversation comparing Eli and Peyton needs to go back and look at the numbers. Eli and Peyton Manning should never be compared because Eli will never be as good as his older brother know matter how many Superbowls he wins. Eli can not run an offensive such as the one the Colts ran with Peyton no matter what he has for talent around him.

Here are some of numbers when comparing Eli and Peyton Manning. They both have won a Superbowl and were named MVP’s. Peyton has a better completion percentage for this career 65 percent to Eli’s 58, quarterback rating (QBR) 94 to Eli’s 82 and more seasons of 4,000 passing yards or more Peyton with 11 and Eli with three. With these numbers it is pretty obvious who the better quarterback is.

Eli needs a really good defensive in the league to back him up or he starts making numerous mistakes and costs his team victories. Eli is very streaky as well when it comes to winning and losing games. For example, in the 2007-2008 season when the Giants went to the Superbowl and beat the Patriots he was 8-8 going into the playoffs and had four good games all season and won the Superbowl. This season Eli lost four games in a row losing week ten, eleven, twelve, and thirteen and had to win the final game of the regular season against the Dallas Cowboys to even get a berth in the playoffs. Once again the Giants made it back to the Superbowl, a rematch against the Patriots in Indianapolis on February 5th for Superbowl XXXXIV. Eli has definitely improved as a quarterback especially in clutch situations late in games, but as I see it he will never be as good as his brother Peyton.

Peyton Manning has only won one Superbowl in his career, but he is the Colts Offensive Coordinator and quarterback on the field. You saw what happened when Peyton was injured and unable to play this season for the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts went 2-14 respectively with three different quarterbacks none of them could get the job done. After a few weeks into the NFL season, ESPN started talking about the Colts possibly getting the number one overall pick in 2012 NFL Draft because without Peyton the Colts are awful. Peyton has already done enough in his 13-year career to be in the NFL Hall of Fame.

Peyton Manning is one of the best quarterbacks of all-time with greats such as Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Brett Favre. When sports fans try to tell me that Eli is as good as Peyton I just laugh. I hope I helped you better understand just because Eli is going to his second Superbowl of his career it does not mean he is better then his older brother Peyton or his father Archie Manning.
