Roger Federer Wins His Fifth Consecutive Wimbledon Title

Roger Federer of Switzerland beat the young Spaniard Rafael Nadal in five sets to win his fifth Wimbledon title. Federer won the match to make history tying Bjorn Borg with five consecutive titles at Wimbledon between 1976-1980. The final score of the match was 7-6, 4-6, 7-6, 2-6, 6-2.

Nadal gave Federer a run for his money and almost ruined Federer’s chance of being a five time champion at Wimbledon. In this match Nadal lost two crucial tie breaks in the first and third sets that lost him his chance at winning his first Wimbledon title. Nadal will probably have a lot more chances to beat the five time champion at Wimbledon in future years.

Venus Williams Wins the Women’s Wimbledon Final for the Fourth Time

Venus Williams wins against Marion Bartoli the young French women 6-4, 6-1. Venus had a tough match ever though that the match sounded like a kill it really wasn’t. Marion Bartoli is young and didn’t expect to make it to the finals, but she showed up and gave it her all. This was Venus fourth Wimbledon title in six chances. Also, this match up was two of the highest ever to make it to the finals.

Rafael Nadal Has a Scare in the 4th Round

Nadal lost the first two sets to the German Youzhny 6-4, 6-3. After that he started playing tennis like he is capable of and won the final three sets and the match 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-2. Youzhny the #14 player in the world might have thought he had the match. He still was trying to win but Nadal played better then Youzhny and walked off the court a winner. Nadal has been struggling as of late having to play five sets his last two matches helping himself stay in the tournament for now. Do you think Nadal will make it to the finals against Roger Federer, the king of grass?

Nadal came through in the end and won a spot advancing to the quarter finals. People that watch tennis know that Nadal is not playing his best tennis right know.

Serena Williams Almost Upsets #1

NOT THIS TIME! SERENA LOSES IN QUARTER FINAL!

Does anyone else think that Serena should have won the match against the #1 player in the world? Serena might have thought so, but Henin showed her otherwise by putting her away on Centre Court right after her sister Venus took care of business against Maria Sharapova winning 6-1, 6-3.

Serena Williams battled through a tough match against Justine Henin, but failed to pull off the upset. She dropped the first set 6-4, but had her service broken to let Henin serve for the first set. Williams came up big in the second set only being broken once and taking the set 6-3. Henin was too tough for the American in the third and final set hitting her first serve in more than half the time and only getting broke once in the final set to win the match 6-4, 3-6, 6-3

Wouldn’t it have been nice to see a repeat of the Serena and Venus in the Wimbledon Women’s final?
